Homecoming Scotland

WordUniversity of Aberdeen Writers Festival is one of the highlights of Scotland's cultural calendar. Over 40 authors, thinkers and commentators from all over the world come to Aberdeen for a three-day celebration of the written word with an energetic mix of readings, discussions, films and exhibitions. Previous names include Nobel laureate Seamus Heaney, Louis De Bernieres, Irvine Welsh, James Kelman, Louise Welsh, AL Kennedy, Colm Toibin, Richard E Grant, Liz Smith, Hardeep Singh Kohli and not forgetting a packed series of events for young readers. In 2009, Word will celebrate the year of Homecoming with the rest of the nation, with some extra special events showcasing word and culture. Be among the first to receive up-to-date information and a copy of the programme for the 2009 festival when it's launched early this year by joining our mailing list.

BBC, The internet has seen a growing interest in Basic Adult Learning resources. It is very lucrative for those who want to make money from it!! Unfotunately many adults have difficulty finding the money to participate in a great deal of these activities due to poor wages, unemployment, family commitments, etc. This group has been created to identify free literacy and numeracy sites on the web. There is now a site available to enable people to access good resources without the worry of financial outlay. Please check: ADULT LEARNING WEB RESOURCES http://www.alresources.com {Please check out 'LINKS' on the left column} The links here will give you access to a host of useful sites. It is a gateway to EAL/ESOL, Family Learning, Political Education and much more. There is also links to the BBC Skillswise programme!! You may complain about the TV licence but when you explore this site you will understand the amount of resources that have been created by the BBC and are available freely to everyone. A stunningly brilliant site paid for by US, don't lose it!! If you have links, ideas or worksheets please post here and I will add to the Adult Learning Web Resources site
